traffic's keepin me awake most nights now these days,
car dims flash lights through
the blinds been turnin up the stereo,
louder,
lately,
it's gettin louder,
lately,
started a band to see where she goes,
where we all land nobody knows,
you ever been honest with yourself at 4 A.M.?
it's gettin cloudy,
baby,
It's gettin cloudy,
baby,
aw I think it's rainin,
baby,
It's gettin louder,
lately,
New York, New York you never sleep,
and Nashville, Tennessee you haunt my dreams,
Lately,
Lately,
Lately,
you ever wanted something so much,
starts down deep in your gut and wakes you up,
it's just noise,
it's gettin louder,
it's just noise,
it's gettin louder,
it's just noise,
it's gettin louder, baby,
aw it's gettin louder, baby,
it's gettin louder, baby,
New York, New York you never sleep,
Nashville, Tennessee you haunt my dreams,
Lately,
Lately,

Washed Away

Sarah's been dancin down at the palace,
and old men, been makin it rain with their old money,
she's shakin about the only milk and honey left,
in this shallow town,
in this shallow town,
I said Hey, I said Hey,
it's a shallow town,
Sarah's spinning dreams she knows she can't sew,
she sticks a twenty and some hope in a jar behind her stove,
she knows breaks are hard to catch man,
Sarah strikes a match then,
lights up her days last stick of death,
prayin that a hard rain's gonna fall,
and God will wash us all away,
quicker than a New York minute and watch us drown,
in this shallow town, in the shallow grave,
I said hey, I said hey,
in this shall la la low town,
in this shallow grave
Sarah doesn't pay too much attention,
to the words of the wives of the old men she been dancin,
but whispers turn to shouts,
in this size of town,
in this size of shallow town,
and when the Spring rains Sarah prayed,
for God to give the levee hell,
the Mississippi gives and takes away,
when her water's swell,
it's a muddy grave,
when her water's swell,
it's a muddy grave,
I said hey, I said hey,
it's a shall la la low town,
it's a muddy grave,
Oh, and when the Spring rains Sarah prayed,
for God to give the levee hell,
the Mississippi gives and takes away,
when her water's swell,
it's a muddy grave,
when her water's swell,
it's a muddy grave,
I said hey, I said hey,
it's a shall la la la low town,
it's a muddy grave,
I said hey, I said hey,
it's a shall la la la low town,
it's a muddy grave,

Harvest Sons Peoria, Illinois
How slow the days moved out there in the sticks where I'm from; the clouds rolling by on those country days, listening to the wind rustle through the trees, the hawks above the hay field. Lost in the slowness and peacefulness of nature for too long to shake off. I seek that flow now in music and try to incorporate it wherever possible. -Seth Samuelson Cocquit ... more
